Hon. Peter Gathungu Kamau is the MCA for Leshau Pondo Ward serving his second consecutive term

He is the Chairperson of the Committee Education, Children, Gender Affairs, Culture and Social Services.

He is also a member of: Implementation; Committee on Delegated County Legislation and Public Service, Administration and Devolution.

In his first term, he served as the Majority leader,he was Chairperson of the Public Accounts and Investments Committee. He was also a Member of the Lands, Housing & Urban DevelopmenT; Powers and Privileges; Health Services and Liaison committees.

Hon. Gathungu holds a Bachelor of Science (Community Development) degree from Laikipia University, a Diploma in Human Resource Management and Industrial Relations from Mombasa Polytechnic and Certificate in Community Development from Detra Institute. He went to Kiandege and Leshau Boys for his Primary and Secondary School education respectively.He is currently pursuing a Masters degree in Developmental studies at Mt. Kenya University.

He worked as an estate manager at Nebange Limited for 10 years before he joined the County Assembly as an MCA.

The Member is married to Rachael Wambui and are blessed with two daughters.
