The committee is mandated to provide legislation, oversight and representation on:

1. Coordination of Government business, public programmes and activities
2. Emerging policies and development initiatives;
3. Policy formulation, analysis and general administration;
4. Management of public resources and assets;
5. The coordination of disaster management and emergency response and;
6. Promotion of good governance etc.
